Thank you for your interest in the B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation. We welcome grant applications that strengthen communities in Marathon County.

General grant application guidelines

  • The B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation generally considers one proposal per organization within a 12-month period and encourages applicants to seek diverse funding sources.
  • The Foundation does not typically fund the full cost of events or projects and expects applicants to seek additional sources of support.
  • The Foundation supports organizations that serve residents of Marathon County.
  • Funding requests must be for future projects only. The Foundation does not consider requests for projects that have already occurred.
  • Funding decisions are typically communicated by email within one week following a Board meeting.
  • Grant funds will not be released until the full project budget has been secured through donations, pledges, or other committed sources.

Eligible applicants include:

  • 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
  •  Municipalities
  • School districts

Projects must align with the Foundation’s mission and benefit communities in Marathon County.

The Foundation supports projects in the following areas:

  1. Economic Development
  2. Social Development

Application deadlines & review schedule

Requests over $10,000

Reviewed six times per year.

Applications are due by midnight on the last Wednesday of January, March, May, July, September, and November.

Requests of $10,000 or less

Reviewed monthly. Applications are due by midnight on the last Wednesday of each month.

  3. Complete all required fields and upload requested materials.
  4. Submit your application by the applicable deadline.
